For the first time a complete computerized comparison of Srila Prabhuapda’s original 1972 Macmillan Bhagavad-gita As It Is and the current ISKCON “Revised and enlarged” edition is available. It is amazing, and surprising to see all the changes so clearly pointed out.
This is a side-by-side comparison of Srila Prabhuapda’s original Macmillan Bhagavad-gita As It Is (on the left hand side) and ISKCON’s “Revised and Enlarged” edition [on the right hand side].
The Macmillan edition comes from the Bhaktivdanta Vedabase 2003 and does contain some scanning errors, occasionally there are words that have characters in them that are incorrect. ISKCON’s Revised and Enlarged edition comes from the Bhaktivedanta Vedabase 3.1.
Because of the way the diff program we used works in some cases we had to make the format of the Sanskrit verses the same in both books, otherwise the diff program would go crazy. Often in the original editon a Sanskrit verse would be quoted on four lines and in ISKCON’s “Revised and Enlarged” edition it is only quoted on two [longer] lines. So to get a clear comparison we have made the Sanskrit verses on the same number of lines in both books. Also sometimes we had to break a paragraph or join a paragraph in one of the books, again so the diff program would give the proper output.
We have only compared the translations and purports for Chapter 1-18. For clarity we have not compared the word-for-word synonyms, even though there are a lot of changes in the synonyms.
Apart from any scanning errors and the slight format adjustments we had to make you will very clearly see all the changes that have been made between the two versions of Srila Prabhuapda’s Bhagavad-gita As It Is in a way that was never possible before.
Hare Krsna Prabhu ji,
Please accept my humble obesiances with all Glories to Srila Prabhupada!
This is such a great work. Thanks a lot for your contineous effort to show these changes to this world – I am sure it will open up some eyes if not all……

Hare Krishna!
Thank you for this site, Madhudvisa Prabhu.
I was wondering is it possible to download all those files with the changes for personal study? That would be very helpful and convenient.
Dear Madhudvisa dasa,
Outstanding work! Krishna will be please, I for some reason overlooked the fact that almost all modern Gita’s say “Second Edition / Revised and Enlarged”… If I had thought about that for a moment I would have looked more into it. It seems fairly devious that they change the texts, don’t list the editors, and still keep the “AS IT IS” portion of the title with Srila Prabhupada as the only credit. It also threw me off when I got the book “Bhakti: The Art of Eternal Love” and it says “HIS DIVINE GRACE A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada” right there at the bottom. No sign of any other authors, and he wasn’t even alive when the book was written. It seems to me they thought they might sell more this way. I would have much more respect if it said it was written/compiled by devotees such a such… I mean who wrote this? The introduction doesn’t even have an author… “The Editors”… that says a lot.
Well thank you very much for your great service to Krishna! I’m sure he is well pleased by your work. Hare Krishna!

HARE KRISHNA ;PAMHO; KEEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!I THINK RESPECTED JAD MAHARAJ HAS OFFENDED SHRILA PRABHUPADA BY FINDING FAULTS IN HIS TEACHINGS!!! HE HAS COMMITED AN MAD ELEPHANT OFFENCE!!! SPIRITUAL PROGRESS OF SUCH A PERSON IS CERTAINLY LOST!!! HE CERTAINLY HAS EGO ISSUES EVIDENT FRM HIS ANGER TOWARDS U.KRISHNA SAYS BY ANGER INTELLIGENCE IS LOOST!!!!!! IF SUCH PEOPLE R EDITING THEN GOD SAVE US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PAMHO, GSP N SGM, HARIBOL PRABHUS, CAN ANY BODY ENLIGHTEN ME AS TO WHICH VERSION OF THE GITA IS IN CIRCULATION, AS I WOULD PREFER THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THE GITA. HARE KRISHNA
Dear Madhudvisa Prabhu, Hare Krsna! Jaya Prabhupada!
Please accept my humble obeisances.
Thank you very much for the great service you are doing.
I have been discussing with some Italian devotees about the original version of Srila Prabhupada’s books, and they have no information.
I have given them your links but in Italy very few people can read and understand English. I was thinking I could offer some little service in that regard, but copying the texts from http://www.prabhupadabooks.com on line is not practical for me.
Have you considered the idea of producing a REAL Vedabase with all the documents – something that I could purchase and utilize for a translation of the original teachings into Italian?
Thanks,
PKD
No other offence is as bad as that committed towards the Feet of holy Mahajans (great humans & close associates & Devotees of Lord Krishna & most importantly the the successors of Disciplic Successesion of the Messege of Lord Chaitanya (Godhead Lord Krishna Himself) to fetch back all the conditioned souls to Goloka who have been suffering with the disease of birth and death for infinite birth cycle & His message is the greatest saviour for al beings in this very degraded age of Kali and most apparently all Mahajans are considered as His Divine Grace) So ‘Offence’ at the feet of Such Visionaries is hardly pardonable even by Lord Krishna Himself let alone we conditioned souls are out of Question who should always hope for His mercy.
Please take this foolish act so seriously. Haribol !
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS AMAZING EFFORT IN MAKING THE COMPARISONS!!!
Hare krishna,
thank you for providing such changes to the public. Now peoples can realize about the ISKCON after srila prabhupad left the planet.
All Glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga
Please accept my dandavat
As theme of reflection, respectfully, I would like to quote:
tad-vag-visargo janatagha-viplavo
yasmin prati-slokam abaddhavaty api
namany anantasya yaso ‘nkitani yac
chrnvanti gayanti grnanti sadhavah
Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.5.11):
“On the other hand, that literature which is full with descriptions of the transcendental glories of the name, fame, form and pastimes of the unlimited Supreme Lord is a transcendental creation meant to bring about a revolution in the impious life of a misdirected civilization. Such transcendental literatures, even though irregularly composed, are heard, sung and accepted by purified men who are thoroughly honest.”
My blessings to you for this work.
Prabhupada are Krishnas messenger and I would like to really hear word by word what the messenger has to say without someone interrupt here and there, even if the interrupter think he is a great pandit or scholar. Krishnas taste are in Prabhupadas words, and these words are devoid of worldly ego and therefor attractive to everyone.
Hare Krishna
i dont no why people are wasting their time in editing those perfect books. they write some thing new if they have, editing Prabhupad books is just like the to edit Krishna’s teaching directly because Krishna Himself speak from the mouth of Prabhupad otherwise to change the western people is not hard but imposible. Since according to Prabhupad “imposible” word is in the dictonary of fools, and it is only Krishna who can make posible to imposible. And that Prabhupad did. Who ever is making changes in Prabhupad’s script is just trying to increase the illumination of the sun light but litting the lamp, which offcourse and obviously worthless, not only knowledge point of view but spritually it hardly makes any sense. further the script which is written is written or modify just to grorify self but not to the Guru and Gauranga (a true diciple can never edit the writings of his /her spitual master knowing that He is (was) a Maha Maha Maha Bhagwat, it is just a Vaishnava apradha ) and earlier sages can never help in self realization and since useless.
Now, question arises
1. who are these people?
2. is there any group of such people?
3. if yes, then there may be some people also who are interested in some other kind of change or issue in the ISKCON, against to Prabhupad?
4. in this way the question arises “is ISKCON dividing”, because i know many people who are getting dissatisfy with the lots of things happening in the temple by the authorities. Because may be we are of different thoughts, may from different cultures but the unique and uniforn in us is the understnding of the spituality and the understanding of Krishna, The Supreme personality. so if that get change it is impossible to get unite and if we continue to read such edited books, this will happen cause if the meaning change perception will certainly change then it become a kind of generation gap since one generation grow up reading Prabhupad ‘s Gita and now another one grow up reading so called the EDITED GITA.
5. the most important question arises that what can we do to restrict such kind worthless and spritualy hazardous malpractices?
some urgent action is to be taken like
a. first of all let the GBC allow no one to change any thing even a single word even if it is grammetical error let the Prabhupad’s words remain same what ever they are , remember these are the same words which brings revolution in the life of western habitants.
b. senior ones have to be unite and BBT must sign an agreement not to publish the edited versions without GBC permission that too granted if so necessory by the polling of the ISKCONiers (all the temple devotees, trustees, life members).
sincere one’s have to take main authority positions and through out such unsincere, disobidient and unable disciples of a completely perfect able spitual master, from the organization. if necesorry action not taken the day is not far away when ISKCON get many furcations because this is the big isuue but not the only one.
so I must say ” SAVE PRABHUPAD’S GITA SAVE ISKCON SAVE HUMANITY “
Hare Krishna Prabhuji
PAMHO
Thank you very much for this amazing effort.
Thank you prabhuji for opening my eyes…
I’m greatly indebted to you, without you i would have again lost in the nescience even after coming in contact with Prabhupad’s teachings. Thank you once again.
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Hare Krsna,
Dear Madhudvisa dasa, I am forever gratefull to you for pointing the changes out. It turns out that I have a modified Bhagavad Gita. But I will watch out for changes from now on.
Thank you for this comparison.
Looking at the flow and precise wording of Srila Prabhupada I find no reason to change His writing. There maybe some odd word that may be seen as an error and it is this reason the changes were allowed. But what has happened to Srila Prabhupada’s translation of the Gita, as seen here is a Big mistake.
Jai Advaita Swami has commented that he had changed portions of Prabhupada’s translation based on his American understanding of the English lanquage. Later he had seen how he was wrong. (From a coversation in Maidenhead UK).
The original Prabhupada translation is far better than what has been presented here.
In future I will only buy and distribute Prabhupada’s books. I would humbly advise those who are at the BBT to revert to the original translation by His Divine Grace.
Hare Krishna,
Yesterday I was reading Bhagavad Gita As It Is – Original with a friend who had the changed one. I knew about the unauthorized changes, but yesterday I found one major change. The change is in the Preface of the book, where the name of the Messrs. Macmillan and Co. is removed.
I thought of writing about this for the benefit of all the readers.
Below is the comparison. The text appears in the first paragraph of the Preface.
Bhagavad Gita As It Is – Original
“But later on, when the demand for Bhagavad-gītā As It Is considerably increased, I was requested by many scholars and devotees to present the book in its original form, and Messrs. Macmillan and Co. agreed to publish the complete edition.”
Bhagavad Gita As It Is – Changed
“But later on, when the demand for Bhagavad-gītā As It Is considerably increased, I was requested by many scholars and devotees to present the book in its original form.”
The text “and Messrs. Macmillan and Co. agreed to publish the complete edition” is completely removed.
This change definitely proves the intention behind it.
Srila Prabhupada ki Jai.
Thanks very much for this invaluable service. Srila Prabhupada is very pleased.
Please accept my most humble obeisances.
Hare Krishna dear matajis and prabhus,

Always hear, read, remember, memorize, speak and quote from, worship and distribute Sri Krishna as He desires to appear exclusively through the writings of His dearmost devotee and topmost empowered senapati in the authorized, 1972 unchanged Srimad Bhagavad Gita As It Is by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada.
Avaiable to order and online at http://www.asitis.com.
Editions changed by members of the great sinister movement (google Prabhupada sinister) are polluted, like milk touched by the lips of a snake and have a poisonous effect.
Few exact renditions of Sriman Mahaprabhu’s holy words exist. His Siksastakam is notable. In the Caitanya Mangala (Sutra-khanda, song 12, texts 564-565) Lord Caitanya clearly mentions that He will send His leading preacher abroad:
ebe nama sankirtana tiksna khadga lana
antara asura jivera pheliba katiya
yadi papi chadi dharma dura dese yaya
mora senapati-bhakta yaibe tathaya
“Taking the sharp sword of the congregational chanting of the Holy Name, I will root out and destroy the demoniac mentality in the hearts of the conditioned souls.”
“If some sinful people escape and giving up religious principles go to far off countries, then My commander in chief (Senapati Bhakta) will appear to chase them and distribute Krsna consciousness.”
In more recent days, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati also predicted the propagation of the sankirtana movement. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura wrote in the Sajjana-tosani volume of 1885:
“Lord Caitanya did not advent Himself to liberate only a few men in India. Rather, His main objective was to emancipate all living entities of all countries throughout the entire universe and preach the Eternal Religion…. There is no doubt that this unquestionable order will come to pass…. Very soon the unparalleled path of hari-nama-sankirtana will be propagated all over the world…. Oh, for that day when the fortunate English, French, Russian, German, and American people will take up banners, mrdangas, and karatalas and raise kirtana through their streets and towns! When will that day come? … That day will witness the holy transcendental ecstasy of the Vaisnava dharma to be the only dharma, and all the sects and religions will flow like rivers into the ocean of Vaisnava dharma. When will that day come?”
In Srimad Bhagavad Gita As It Is, the Lord demands exclusive, or unalloyed devotion. Srila Prabhupada is the perfect, supreme example of the result of unalloyed devotion. He alone is able to bestow his divine mood on those dedicated exclusively to his message. Resorting to Srila Prabhupada’s lotus feet and books, eschewing all deviant and deficent writings is the natural, swift and blissful way to Sri Krishna. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!!
Attention devotees in Pune. In pune iskcon camp temple, in the book department named ‘jiva daya books’ the bbt published 1972 macmillan edition IS AVAILABLE. Contact them for your copy, price is 200rupees so try to negotiate also. Apparently the temple president does not support distributing these original editions, but if bbt is publishing them in mumbai and distributing them, he shouldnt have any problem either.
Ever heard of Google translate?
Hare Krsna dear Madhudvisha prabhu, all glory to original Srila Prabhupada’s books. Thank you for your courage in the service to Stila Prabhupada and Vaisnavas.
Dear Prabhu
PAMHO. AGSP. Thank you for the great service you are rendering to Srila Prabhupada and Chaitanya Maha Prabhu’s movement.
I had my first experience of change…within three years of my association with ISKCON.. back in 1995. They have changed the prayer to Tulasi Maharani…
vrindayai tulasi-devyai
priyayai keshavasya cha
krishna-bhakti-prade devi
satyavatyai namo namaha
They Changed the KRISHNA-Bhakti to VISHNU Bhakti.. I was very disturbed and could not accept it.. while the assembled devotees use to chant Vishnu Bhakti.. I use to chant Krishna Bhakti… That was the first moment.. I felt.. why is that changed…started thinking about it very seriously.. especially, by then.. I read Srila PRabhupada’s books and – I know how serious he is about not changing his teaching..
Just thought of sharing this info.
Hare Krishna
Hare Krishna, dear prabhu,

Chapter 6, TEXT 31 (Sankhya Yoga)
sarva-bhūta-sthitaṁ yo māṁ
bhajaty ekatvam āsthitaḥ
sarvathā vartamāno ‘pi
sa yogī mayi vartate
SYNONYMS
sarva-bhūta-sthitam—situated in everyone’s heart; yaḥ—he who; mām—unto Me;bhajati—serves in devotional service; ekatvam—oneness; āsthitaḥ—thus situated;sarvathā—in all respects; vartamānaḥ—being situated; api—in spite of; saḥ—he; yogī—transcendentalist; mayi—unto Me; vartate—remains.
TRANSLATION (Original 1972 edition by Prabhupada)
The yogī who knows that I and the Supersoul within all creatures are one
worships Me and remains always in Me in all circumstances.
TRANSLATION (New “Revised and enlarged” edition published in 1984 after Prabhupada personally left this planet in 1977)
Such a yogī, who engages in the worshipful service of the Supersoul, knowing that I and the Supersoul are one, remains always in Me in all circumstances.
Here it should be noted that Prabhupada is focusing on Bhakti yoga by stressing on worshiping Bhagavan (worships Me) , and not the Paramatma feature (engages in the worshipful service of the Supersoul). In fact it is a great technical error as well. The supersoul or Paramatma is an object of meditation, because the supersoul resides in the heart as a witness. You cannot use your senses to serve something which resides inside your heart. Bhagavan is represented as the deity form which can be served appropriately. Therefore the change in words completely gives a wrong meaning to what Prbahupada originally wanted to say. Prabhupada at other places in the Geeta has stated that there are three features of the absolute truth: Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan. And he clearly says that the word “bhajati” or “bhajan” means service unto the Lord (Bhagavan) directly, i.e in deity form. But after he left this planet, the meaning of his original text has been greatly altered which totally camouflages the original intention of Prabhupada in writing Bhagavad Geeta as it is. Therefore the new edition of the Bhagavad Geeta is NOT As It Is. It contains the results of mental speculations by some people, which are neither sanctioned by Prabhupada nor in the same spirit in which it was written by Prabhupada.
Im so sorry about this. I cant belive that the sacred book of srila Prabhupada are touch by his own disciple. i dont speak well enlgish. but steel i read my spanish version and i found that it also no prabhupada original version. I am very angry with the responsible for such act. I would like to translate the original Spanish version Srila Prabhupada who left us. but I am not an expert in translation yet. thank you very much for this page and I hope that in the future is the original version of prabhupada which predominates in the story and not the version of ordinary people
Regarding changes in ” revised and enlarged”… Where did JAS get the inspiration to add these lines?
“”” If one constructs a very big building for Krsna and installs the Deity of Krsna, one is not prohibited from living there, but it is understood that the proprietor of the building is Krsna. That is called Krsna consciousness.”””
I bet even the earlier/ orginal draft he referred to to make changes did not have these lines.
Prabhupada never mentions such an expression in the entiere series of teachings he dileverd through his books, lectures and conversations.
I bet the this device where in sanyasi can construct a temple with the help of his disciples and make a illusionary “permanent” arrangement for his stay on earth.
hare krishna pamho all glories to srila prabhupada and all glories to your service prabhu after millions of births in this material world we have all been blessed with association of a pure devottee of lord krishna who infused his divine spiritual energy into all of his books the road maps home to the spiritual world and he has introduced us to all the residents of his books our eternal family. this srimad bhagavad gita is the center piece of srila prabhupadas divine mission and we should put it back the way it was for the 50th anniversary of his divine mission and let the guru who lives in his books preach his message for the next ten thousand years and fullfill the mission that he came to do to bestow benidiction upon all no soul left behind all means all dont mess with the road map i fall at the lotus feet of srila prabhupadas global body of iskcon with great awe and reverence as i watch his global form of iskcon preaching non stop round the clock sharing the mercy of gauranga mahaprabhupa your fallen servant but still a servant punyatama das
I was reading Srimad bhagavatham from prabhupadabooks.com website. I read that Srila Prabhupada completed till 10 canto of the Srimad bhagavatham but in that website it is available till 10th canto 13th chapter only. can you provide me a link to the complete 10th canto either online readable or to an ebook please!!!! and btw vedabase.com has complete 12 cantos is it authentic? Please reply.thank you!!
Faithfully,
Vishesh reddy.
Srila Prabhupada only translated Srimad-Bhagavatam up to Tenth Canto Chapter 13. But he has given us the whole Tenth Canto in the form of his book: Krsna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead.
ISKCON’s translation of Srimad-Bhagavatam after Canto 10 Chapter 13 is definitely not bona fide and you should not read it. Reading it will seriously damage your chances of becoming Krishna conscious. You only need to look at the author of the ‘Bhaktivedanta Purports’ for ISKCONs 10.14 on. He is even banned from ISKCON by the GBC now because of his bogus philosophy and because of his open and outright rejection of the teachings of Srila Prabhupada.
So on one hand they through him out of ISKCON for his philosophical deviations but on the other hand they give the Bhagavatam class from his books and read his ‘Bhaktivedanta Purports’ in the morning class as if he was a pure devotee like Srila Prabhupada. It is insanity. ISKCON insanity…
Prabhupada has given us everything in his books. You do not need to read any books except the books Prabhupada has given us. And I guarantee you have hardly read any of Prabhupada’s books anyhow. So read all of Prabhupada’s books and then read them again and again. That is what you need to do. That is all that you need to read.
Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!
Hare Krishna, where can I download it for to do the same with the spanish version of gita ? reverences
Hare Krishna. Thank you for this site explaining the changes. Just wish to know why the addition of a full paragraph at the beginning for Chapter 9 Text 26 as compared to the Mac Millan edition I have which is without it.
Thank you.

HK. PAMHO.
I liked all the finding from ORIGINAL BG As it is to now changed by ISKCON. Very well found ot.
Now I want to get a copy of this at the earliest. The Original one. Can you please help me?
2. I have heard that Akhyapatra, Bangalore has done Guru apardha. I do not know in detail, but still I want to know. Please clear my doubt, if some one is a Guru drohi, how can he lead one back to godhead. He my look opulant, all good qualities may be there externally, but how can he go back to godhead? If really guru druhi. But I am not sure, if it is true. I have heard from many, they say this and that and even forbade to mingle with this organization. Also, heard that the founder is very strong and practices very well the scriptures and engages his followes vwery well for preaching, deity worship ect. But guru drohi. Please clear this doubt. This will be beneficial to all readers.
3. I see so many writing agaist the ISKCON gurus written by the above mentioned foundation. I want to know that is it not Vaisnav aparadh? The preacher says “Do not do vaishnav apardha” but they post something in web sites etc..can you please explain me. They might have bad things before joining ISKCON, but now they are sadhus. Dikhya kale sisya kare atma samarpana…sei kale krsna tare kare atmasama… Past history is not required. Have they dome something bad after joing full time ISKCON? If yes, that is wrong. But if No, then accept as sadhus.
Pl explain me this doubt.
Anyway thank you for your time. DGood findings and I need a copyof Original one. Else, you may contact me on telephone. Pl

Original Prabhupada Bhagavad-gita As It Is is available at:

Ravans in the garb of sadhus. No vaisnava aparadha in this. Because a vaisava has to obey the parampara as it is. If he transgress then is fallen.
Correction to srila prabhupada’s original books with deliberate attempt, is beyond sins and offences, mad elephants actions. Sick those people are.
Really eye opener for we foolish ones in general. Now whom to believe? Where to go for shelter? Alas, what would be the future?
Anyway, Only shelter is Sriman Mahaprabhu , who is distributing His love and pastimes freely Krsna prema. I have many things to write, but hope this is not the solution. We need to do correction to the correction and keep srila Prabhupada’s books printing and distributing.

Dear Madhudvisa Prabhu,
I want to confirm whether the books I have from Krishna Book Inc. are original Prabhupada’s book ?
Also could you please confirm if it’s safe to buy Prabhupada’s original books from xxx?
Regards
Amit
Hare Krishna Amit
Please get Prabhupada’s original books from:
https://krishnastore.ca/books-srila-prabhupada-om-21_38.html
Yes. KBI are printing Prabhupada’s original books. Mostly the typesetting is all done by me personally so I can vouch for the fact that KBI are printing Prabhupada’s original books.
I have no idea about other websites but please get them from:
https://krishnastore.ca/books-srila-prabhupada-om-21_38.html
Hari Bol Prabhu, Please accept my humble obeisances, All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
On Krishna Store, I see the 30 volume Srimad Bhagavatam set: https://krishnastore.ca/books-srila-prabhupada-om-21_38.html
Here eacht Canto has mostly 3 books. But isn’t there any set where each Canto is in 1 book? (the original one)?
Hare Krishna,
Hendrik
No. Original Prabhupada Bhagavatam set is in 30 volumes. If it is not in 30 volumes it is not Prabhupada’s original Bhagavatam set. This idea of printing it in 400 page books is Prabhupada’s idea. He stresses in the introduction to the Delhi Bhagavatam set that it is important that this literature be presented in 400 page books so it will not be overpowering for the reader. Prabhupada’s idea is that this is important, heavy material, and if it is put in books with more than 400 pages it will overburden the prospective readers from the general public. So there is no such thing as an ‘original’ Prabhupada Bhagavatam set with one volume per canto.
Thank you so much for putting this together. You are truly serving the servants for generations to come.
Namaste Madhudvisa das,
I have a question about a reprinted Srimad Bhagavatam 2nd Canto (in one volume) in my possession. For years I collected original SB’s in particular to give to others, but sometimes when ordering online, a non-original would arrive.
I have been trying to find out if this one volume 2nd Canto has been changed in translations or purports but cannot figure it out without going through it verse by verse with my own books, but I don’t have the time.
It is printed in Australia, copyright 1987. Are you familiar with this edition? If it is changed I will not pass on to anyone.
Thank you very much.
It has been edited, but not really that much. It is OK to read and give to others. It is a different sort of editing to the changing that was done on BG and Cc and more recently by BBT on Srimad-Bhagavatam also. So the book you have is OK. But you can encourage everyone to get the original Bhagavatam set:
https://krishnastore.com/srimad-bhagavatam-set-original-30-volume-h-krishna-502.html
PS – I continued searching and did find a site that helped me determine that the SB in question was changed, and even the 1976 version I have is also changed, which I did not know.
If you know of a site that shows the extent of changes in the SB, I’d appreciate knowing it.
Thank you
We have printed original Srimad-Bhagavatam. Why don’t you get that and read it and distribute it to others also?
https://krishnastore.com/srimad-bhagavatam-set-original-30-volume-h-krishna-502.html
Hari Bol Prabhu, Please accept my obeisances, All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Prabhu, I bought Bhagavad Gita As It Is (1972) from the Krishna store site: https://krishnastore.eu/bhagavad-gita-as-it-is-1972-complete-edition-h-krishna-1039.html
This was a couple of years ago. Now I am again reading. At chapter 13, Verse 1, Purport. Read a bit further.
Online, on prabhupadabooks website as well as some other translations you will read:
“Therefore the body is called kṣetra, or the field of activity for the conditioned soul. Now, the person who does not identify himself with the body is called kṣetrajña, the knower of the field. ”
However, in the Bhagavad Gita As It Is (1972) which I bought from Krishnastore website I read:
“Therefore the body is called kṣetra, or the field of activity for the conditioned soul. Now, the person who does identify himself with the body is called kṣetrajña, the knower of the field. ”
The “not” is missing. Could some people who also bought from Krishnastore verify this?
Hare Krishna,
Hendrik
There are 2 mistakes which have been corrected in the KBI Bhagavad-gita As It Is, this one and also the ‘cow protection’ which was incorrectly printed as ‘cattle raising’ in the original book. Both corrections were requested by Srila Prabhupada personally. So you can research this further and contact the KBI devotees if necessary.
Hari Bol Prabhu, Thank you for the reply. The reason for asking was, because in other language translations, there is one book for each Canto. So I thought maybe there is one for English translations as well.
Hare Krishna,
Hendrik
Haribol, according to Srila Prabhupada’s teaching , calf killing has most grievous effects. Does the fact that Jewish leaders have their religious books bound in calf skin cause grievous karmic effects to the lowly jewish followers. Are the BIG Jewish leaders misleading the smaller Jews ??? In like manner the changing of the copyright record to bhagavad gita must be abominable so are the followers who read the Iskcon books with abominable copyright change getting some grievous karmic effect ?
