Why “Only BBT” is Out of the Question

ISKCON’s unauthorized changes to Srila Prabhupada’s books are the most important issue that we, as followers of Srila Prabhupada, have to clearly understand. Our connection to Srila Prabhupada is through his transcendental books and as he says: “I am living in my books.” So if someone starts messing with Prabhupada’s books he is trying to put himself between Srila Prabhupada and us, the followers of Srila Prabhupada. No follower of Srila Prabhupada would ever tolerate such an intrusion into his relationship with Srila Prabhupada.

ISKCON are trying to force devotees to only purchase books that contain thousands and thousands of unauthorized changes to and they are practically banning the reading and distribution of Srila Prabhupada’s original books.

Srila Prabhupada’s mission was to write, publish and distribute his transcendental books. Prabhupada has taken the timeless knowledge of the Vedas and presented it completely without any compromise in a language and style so easy to understand. Anyone, no matter how fallen, can understand Vaisnava philosophy and become a fixed up devotee of Krishna by reading his books.

Prabhupada’s books are not ordinary books. Srila Prabhupada said every night Krishna would come to him and dictate the books. Every day he would read his own books. When asked by his servant, Srutakiriti Prabhu, why he was reading his own books, Prabhupada answered: “These are not my books, they are Krishna’s books.” Even Prabhupada himself was constantly reading his own books and enjoying great spiritual ecstasy.

As confirmed many times by Ramesvara Prabhu [who was in charge of the BBT and the person ultimately responsible for publishing Srila Prabhupada’s books] Prabhupada’s greatest fear was that after his disappearance his disciples [who were infected with what he called “the American disease”, the tenancy to always change] would change his books and thus ruin everything.

Prabhupada just explained how everyone’s a rascal for daring to touch anything in his books. The greatest anxiety he has is that after he’s gone we will add things to his books that are bogus, we will take things out that are bona fide, we will make changes in his books and the whole work for 10,000 years, his plan Prabhupada was working on, it will all be spoiled by us because of our tendency to change. And Prabhupada gave an example that the disease to do things differently is so inherent in the Americans that for the sake of doing things differently we would walk on our hands rather than our feet.” (Ramesvara interview 1981)

There are hundreds of direct orders by Srila Prabhupada forbidding changes in his books. Even if they changes were apparently an improvement on principle Prabhupada would not allow any changes to his books:

I’ve had many experiences with Prabhupada literally drilling me, pounding it into my head that you’re never allowed to change anything in his books. He trained me so intensely on this point. Even when the changes make sense he wouldn’t let me change. Just to train me.” (Ramesvara interview 1981)

This order from Srila Prabhupada forbidding changes to his books is no secret. If you read Prabhupada’s letters you can not miss it. It is everywhere. Prabhupada is often complaining about the “American disease” of always changing and he orders his disciples not to change anything.

But unfortunately as soon as Srila Prabhupada left our material vision Jayadvaita Swami started work on a new “Revised and Enlarged” edition of Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita As It Is. Jayadvita had been working in the BBT for years and was aware Prabhupada’s greatest fear was that his disciples would change his books after he left. Still Jayadviata had a burning desire to change Prabhupada’s books. Prabhupada’s chosen editor was Hayagriva Prabhu, however Jayadviata considered himself a better editor and thought he could do a better job than Hayagriva had done editing Srila Prabhupada’s books.

So as soon as Prabhupada left the planet Jayadviata tried to go back to the earliest drafts of the Bhagavad-gita, before Srila Prabhupada and Hayagriva had edited them, and he tried to remove Hayagriva’s editing style and influence on Prabhupada’s Gita and replace it with his own style and influence.

Hayagriva Prabhu was a University professor in English. Eminently qualified to present Srila Prabhupada’s books in a language and style that was perfect for the Western audience. The combination of Srila Prabhupada’s writing and Hayagriva’s editing was certainly a grand success. On the other hand Jayadviata was a high-school drop-out with no qualifications in regard to the English language, however he was a very good typist. Prabhupada has said in one place that Hayagriva is the best editor and in another place that Jayadviata is the best typist. So it was like that. They were both experts in their respective fields.

Jayadviata got a copy of Prabhupada’s authorized 1972 Macmillan Gita and scribbled his changes on the book.  He claims his changes are based on early drafts and transcriptions of dictation tapes, before Prabhupada and Hayagriva had worked on it together extensively. But on close examination this claim turns out to be false. There is very little correlation between the so-called original manuscript and Jayadviata’s changes to Prabhupada’s Gita. Even if it was true he was trying to ‘correct’ Srila Prabhupada’s final, authorized, approved Bhagavad-gita As It Is based on first drafts that had later been corrected and edited by Srila Prabhupada himself and his chosen editor Hayagriva. It is outrageous. It is insane. No author wants his final, edited, approved and published book changed back to some early draft or dictation tape.

Anyhow the result was a “Revised and Enlarged” edition of Bhagavad-gita As It Is containing more than one thousand significant changes. The style and feel of the book has completely changed. Hayagriva’s English is beautiful and poetic and Jayadviata’s English is as you would expect from a high-school dropout.  As well as completely destroying the style and feel of the book he made many philosophical changes, some very subtle and others so outrageous that his “Revised and Enlarged” edition, in places, says the exact opposite to what is said by Srila Prabhupada in his original “Complete Edition.” For example Prabhupada’s original Gita (10.34 purport) says:

One need not read many books on different subject matters; the ability to remember a few and quote them when necessary is another opulence.

And Jayadvaita obviously does not like this so he changes it to:

And the ability not only to read many books on different subject matters but to understand them and apply them when necessary is intelligence (medha), another opulence.

So the “Revised and Enlarged” Gita encourages reading many books on different subject matters and applying them when necessary while Prabhupada’s Gita discourages this. And we can not find this instruction to read many book on different subject matters anywhere else in Prabhupada’s teachings. This is a new teaching, Jayadviata’s teaching, that has appeared for the first time in his “Revised and Enlarged” Bhagavad-gita. He just inserts his teachings, realizations and interpretations into Prabhupada’s books like this whenever he thinks it is appropriate to do so.

Srila Prabhupada’s teaching, that “one need not read many books on different subject matters; the ability to remember a few and quote them when necessary is another opulence” is confirmed time and time again throughout Prabhupada’s books and lectures:

“One should not partially study a book just to pose oneself as a great scholar by being able to refer to scriptures. In our Krsna consciousness movement we have therefore limited our study of Vedic literatures to Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, Caitanya-caritamrta and Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu. These four works are sufficient for preaching purposes. They are adequate for the understanding of the philosophy and the spreading of missionary activities all over the world. If one studies a particular book, he must do so thoroughly. That is the principle. By thoroughly studying a limited number of books, one can understand the philosophy.” (Madhya 22.118)

I can not very extensively discuss the changes here because there are so many, unlimited, endless changes, not just in Bhagavad-gita, but in many other books. I would ask you to please go to www.BookChanges.com and make a through study of the articles there.

It is amazing. BBTI gives complete freedom to their editors to change anything they want to in Prabhupada’s books. And there are no checks and balances. The editors don’t even have to keep any records of what they change. They don’t have to tell anyone what they change.  BBTI put complete and absolute faith in their editors and allow them to change anything and everything in Prabhupada’s books and then they print the changed books without having the slightest idea what has been changed!

This could never happen anywhere except in ISKCON. Can you imagine any organization, spiritual or otherwise, that would let one unsupervised person with no checks and balances whatsoever change whatever he wanted to change in the vital foundational documentation that forms the basis of the organization? It is insane, completely and absolutely and totally insane. This completely and totally destroys the authority of the books currently being printed by BBTI.

After Dravida (another BBTI editor) reedited Srila Prabhupada’s Caitanya-caritamrta by himself  with no checks and balances I asked Jayadviata if he was aware of what changes Dravida had made, his reply was “No. I do not know the specific changes, but I know the categories of the changes he made.” So BBTI printed a significantly changed edition of Sri Caitanya-caritamrta without knowing what had been changed!

When questioned about one very radical unauthorized change on the guru issue on page 1 of Sri Caitanya-caritamrta Dravida’s reply was: “What Prabhupada says does not tally with the understanding of guru we currently have in ISKCON… I agonized over this for days… and then decided to change it.”

So “Only BBT” is absolutely out of the question. The unauthorized changed books BBTI are printing carry no authority whatsoever. Even BBTI themselves are unaware of the changes their editors are constantly making to Prabhupada’s books. So no one can know when they are reading a BBTI book if what they are reading is from Prabhupada’s original book or not. No thoughtful person will ever be interested in these unauthorized books. They have purposely implemented a revisionist mentality knowingly in defiance of Srila Prabhupada’s very clear and direct orders not to change his books.

Srila Prabhupada’s original books are now available  at www.KrishnaStore.com

Please purchase cases of Srila Prabhupada’s original books at the wholesale prices from www.KrishnaStore.com and distribute them to your friends and family and to the general public. 1. Hari Bol! I am very fortunate in that I was involved very early on with Shrila Prabhupada’s works and have the original Back to Godhead issues thru the seventies as well as the original Bhagavadgita, Bhagavatam and the Chaitanya Charit Amrit and the Nectar of Devotion by Rupa Goswami. These books have carried me thru the decades to a wonderful relationshsip as Lord Krishna’s servant in whatever way I can be, all is offered to Him as seva.

Thank you for bringing this up and having original copies for distribution and sales.

All Glories to the Assembled Devotees.

  2. Dear Madhudvisa Dasa Prabhu Ji
    Hare Krishna

    My God.
After a decade of “studying” BBT books and even online this is a shocker. Does it mean I have understood the transcendental revelation completely wrong?
    Oh what a waste!!!

    1. Hare Krishna Narendra

Not all the books ISKCON are distributing have been changed. For example so far, unless they have printed a changed version recently, the Srimad-Bhagavatam that BBT has been printing [except for the bogus translations and purports by Hriydanadna from Canto Ten Chapter 14 on] is still the pre-1978 version. Many of the small books BBT are printing are still original Prabhupada books.

The Bhagavad-gita As It Is, that BBT distribute, is heavily changed, however.

At this point, by reading ISKCON’s changed books, you have only understood a few points wrong. Because the editing they have embarked on is a process, a gradual process. The idea is every time they print a book they will make more changes. So over a period of many years the books will gradually move far away from what Srila Prabhupada originally wrote to something that is more acceptable to the leadership of today’s ISKCON. ISKCON have so many new programs these days. For example: they are marketing ISKCON as a branch of Hinduism, they want to introduce female gurus and female sannyasis, their philosophy is the guru does not have to be a pure devotee, they have introduced a system of centralized management, they have rejected the system of Deity Worship that Prabhupada is teaching us in his books. And the list goes on and on and on. So they have to bring Srila Prabhupada’s books ‘up to date’ with all the new changes they have made in ISKCON. Otherwise it does not look good for them.

If they made all the changes they want to make to Prabhupada’s books at once everyone would immediately reject them. So they have taken this approach of incremental revisionism. It is like if you throw a frog into a boiling pot of water he will realize this is dangerous for him and immediately hop out of it. But if you put him in a pot of cold water and very gradually warm it up, he will not realize the water is getting hot, he will not realized the danger because the heat is coming slowly, incrementally, so he gets used to it. Until gradually he dies of heat exhaustion.

So this is the approach ISKCON have taken with Prabhupada’s books. Today’s ISKCON is really radically different from what Srila Prabhupada teaches in his books so they have a problem at the moment. If someone comes to ISKCON and reads Prabhupada’s books then they will see so many contradictions there are between what Prabhupada says in his books and what ISKCON preaches and does in their temples. So to resolve this conflict they do not want to surrender to Srila Prabhupada! No! Their answer is to change Prabhupada’s books, ever so slowly, a little different each time they print them. So like the frog in the pot of water that is gradually heating up, they hope the devotees won’t notice that the philosophy in Prabhupada’s books is changing so dramatically, because they will change it slowly, incrementally.

That is the plan. We do not like this plan. We have noticed what they are doing. Prabhupada does not like this plan. So we have to stop it.

So to stop it we are printing Srila Prabhupada’s original books. You can help very much with this by purchasing some cases of Srila Prabhupada’s original books and distributing them. Every cent of the money you spend on Prabhupada’s original books from http://www.KrishnaStore.com we will spend on printing more original Prabhupada books.

In this way you can help save the original teachings of Srila Prabhupada and help save the world. Because the only hope for the world is Krishna consciousness and that hope will be lost if ISKCON is not stopped from destroying Prabhupada’s books by incrementally changing them over the years.

  3. Are there any plans of re-issuing the Krsna Book (1970 edition) in its original size? The “compact” books are getting too difficult for some of us to read.

    1. Hare Krishna Prabhu

No plans at the moment. You can perhaps purchase on second-hand book websites. They are very heavy for today’s book distributors unfortunately…

  4. Hare Krishna Madhudvaisha Prabhu,
    PAMHO, AGTSP,
I have been touches with your nice service to beloved Srila Prabhupada. I have been recieving your e mail since last many years, but I could not, even response. Sorru Prabhu. Your service so nice and require. I am trying to arrange sufficient fund and then keep sufficient books here in Jaisalmer, very hot tourist place, for distribution.

  5. Dear Madhudvisa Prabhu, please accept my most humble obeiances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada.

For many years now, devotees have been writing about the falsification ( The Polite term they use is editing ) adulteration, modification and incremental destruction of Srila Prabhupada’s estate ( Copyrighted sanskrit translation works – Bhagavad git as it is, Srimad Bhagatam and others ) which is held in a legally binding trust , known , as the BBT.
The conditions laid out ,By A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami for administering and management this BBT – Trust gives no authority to anyone, trustees or other person, to edit the copyrighted literary body of the estate held in this trust.

It is a criminal offence to tamper ( Falsify – Edit , etc…. ) with the property of this BBT- Trust,- The copyrighted works .
Therefore, instead of crying into the wind for years and yearrs ( Cyber space ), or pissing into the wind, you must take legal action against the BBT – Trust and ISKCON leaders for destruction of BBT Trust Property and failiure to discharge their feduciary responsibility in the matter of Protecting Srila Prabhupada’s Estate and general colusion with The beneficiaries ( ISKCON ) to convert the assets of the trust illeagally by conducting the BBT trust as a for profit corporation.

    Your Humble servant,
    Hansadutta das
Anything less than this will never be effective, BBT and ISKCON only respond to Legal and financial force. I know because I have dance this dance with them for at least 10 ( ten years ) years, starting in 1991, till well into 2000………….

P.S. Rameswara was never a BBT Trustee, he was only posted as a secretary by Srila Prabhupada , He was never added as a Legal trustee to the legal BBT by Srila Prabhupada, .

His posing ( Imposture / profiling ) was an audacious deception he perpetrated on the innocent naive world wide – ISKCON – devotee community. Please correct this misrepresentation on his part in your future writings.

He in fact came to testify for ISKCON Vs. Hansadutta ( Hans Kary ) that A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami was never the legal copyright owner of his publised works, Srima Bhagavatam, Bhagavad gita as it is etc…. Therefore had no legal right to form the BBT. Fortunately upon thorough research , this fact was established to the court’s satisfaction, and he was dismissed as a witness for supporting ISKCON’S claim that ” Prabhupada was hired by ISKCON to translate and comment on the Srimad Bhagavatam – The Bhagavad Gita and all other written works of Srila Prabhupada. Why do you never mention this fact. The ISKCON devotee community should know about the attitude and and standing position they have , and continue to have towards Srila Prabhupada in this all important matter.

ISKCON Filed a legal motion to establish that Prabhupada was never the legal owner of his own copyrighted works. I have the documents that were filed by ISKCON to prove this. Why do you never publish this legal documentation, so all devotees can understand what the Moral and spiritual characted of the Gurus, GBC’s and other officers of ISKCON are made of .

    Hansadutta das

    1. Hare Krishna Hansadutta Prabhu

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Very nice to hear from you Prabhu. I hope you are well and everything is developing nicely for you there.

As far as publishing the legal documentation I would be very happy to do that but I do not have any of the legal documentation. So if you can send that to me then I will very happily publish it.

As far as fighting in the courts this is a waste of time now. You have already done that and won. So by your mercy Srila Prabhupada’s original books are now being printed and being distributed all over the world. So what is needed now is book distribution. We do not have to fight with ISKCON for anything. We already have the legal rights to print all of Srila Prabhupada’s original books. We do not need anything else. We already have everything.

Envious people naturally self-destruct. We do not have to bother with envious people. They will destroy themselves. We simply need to preach. Chant Hare Krishna and distribute Srila Prabhupada’s original books and go out on Hari-Nama Sankirtan and distribute Krishna prasadam. That is the program. That is what will save us and what will save the world.

As far as Ramesvara Prabhu, yes, I am quite aware that he is 100% politician. Now he is playing the part of a supporter of the ‘no changes’ orders of Srila Prabhupada. But the amazing thing is was under his direction that the BBT published the “Revised and Enlarged” edition of Bhagavad-gita As It Is. So we have not yet heard the explanation how it was possible that in just a few years he could have so totally forgotten all the orders Srila Prabhupada gave him about changing his books.

However, no matter what you say, Ramesvara was the manager of the BBT and was the person who, more than anyone else, was in charge of the publishing of Srila Prabhupada’s books and was the person who got the most personal instructions from Srila Prabhupada on this. And he did a lot of valuable service for Srila Prabhupada in this regard. And the 1982 Ramesvara interview is really a very important document and his testimony in that interview is very valuable evidence that Srila Prabhupada did not want his books changed. So in this way Ramesvara has also done a great service to Srila Prabhupada and his followers.

So everyone has their strong points and their problems, somehow Srila Prabhupada is expert in extracting valuable service from us even though we have a lot of weak points.

Anyhow please send any and all legal documentation you have and I will certainly publish it.

      All glories to your service.

  6. Hare KRSNA! All glories to His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada!!
Are the books which are available through the Vedabase the original books Srila Prabhupada wrote, or are these also bogus revised versions?
    Your humble servant,
    Tom

    1. Hare Krishna Thomas

Vedabase 2003 had both, it had some original Prabhupada books and also the new, changed versions. But in more recent versions of the Vedabase all original Prabhupada books have been deleted and only the changed books remain. Some books have not been changed. But overall Vedabase is not a reliable source for the teachings of Srila Prabhupada. You can find Prabhupada’s original teachings at http://www.PrabhupadaBooks.com

  7. Please advise me Prabhu. I have just ordered the full volume of chaintanya charitamrita in Iskcon of DC but I really don’t know if this is the true Prabhupada’s version without any modification.

    Hare Krishna!

  8. I wonder why the devotees wasting their time the jumbling words and meaning in books printed by others. Please perform devotional service rather discussing about authenticity, so that believe me that your conscience if not Lord Krsna guide us to realize the truth.

  9. Restricting devotees to GBC changed books is not a vasihnava tradition. Just for the sake of few gurus asking all devotees to read only GBC books is immature and selfish. Prabhupada is Universal Guru and any one and every one can approach Prabhupad thru his books. If he allowed ppl to distribute books to every one without discrimination, it is understood that the sceince of krishna is for every one.not just who belives in GBC & Gurus.

Lord krishna please give the wisdom to these GBC men and give us courage to go forward with spreading of krishna concioussness.

  10. Hayagrivas parents were also professors and scholars as far as my knowledge goes. So you can imagine his consciousness being raised from birth in such a family. He was actually a total genius as far as his deep and comprehensive understanding or the english language goes!!!

I am trying to get a devotee I know (who was his personal friend for many years) to write an article about him but he is not into it. I have been trying to get him to write something (even short) for years 😛

  11. My dear Madhudvisa, Hansadutta Prabhus and all devotees on this website,

Please accept my humble obeisances in the dust of your lotus feet. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Just for your pleasure I would like to let you know of my book distribution score since 13th November 2013, when I started distributing Srila Prabhupada’s original softback pocket-size ‘baby’ Bhagavad-gita As It Is 1972 edition, here in Willesden Green, London, UK, which I got from Bhajahari Prabhu: 507 – Bhagavad-gita’s for £949.90 with 88 left in stock. I feel very encouraged by what I have read on this website today and I want to now buy up more and more books from Bhajahari Prabhu, who is the original source of all of Srila Prabhupada’s original books in the UK. If I can just distribute a complete set of Srila Prabhupada’s original books to everyone in London, I will be happy. If we can go on printing all of Srila Prabhupada’s original books in greater and greater quantity, that will be very nice. Thank you very much for your eternal valuable service to Srila Prabhupada, Madhudvisa Prabhu and Hansadutta Prabhu. May Krsna bless you more and more. If we can stop the changes by legal action we must do it immediately. I am happy to bear witness to anything you draft up. We will not tolerate any more changes. If we can orchestrate a complete melt-down of all the changes, that will be nice. Thank you once again.

  12. Hansadutta Prabhu’s salient point regarding taking BBT to task for their abhorrent legal stance strikes to the root. Cui bono? Certainly not the conditioned souls. The usurpers of Shrila Prabhupada’s estate must be exposed as naked emperors. Their “writer for hire” language reveals malice born of anarthas typical of “American exceptionalism”, another way of expressing “chosen” mentality. Yasya prasadan na gatih kuto api.

  13. I’d like to know the names of those who established this so-called BBTI and the names of those who sit (or sat) on its Board of Directors. The website does not reveal their identities.

  14. One of the BBTI’s main points to their “BBT ONLY” argument is where the funds go. They claim that if you buy from non BBTI sources then the money does not go to the BBT.

This is another lie they shamelessly propagate to the innocent devotees who are simply uninformed blind followers.
Whenever anyone sends or gives “BBT” any Laksmi/money at all not a penny of that money is ever seen by the BBT!

    It goes 100% to:

    Bank of the West
    Swift Code: BWSTUS66
    Routing: 122242843
    Account # 644020455

    Bank of the West
    9735 Washington Blvd.
    Culver City, CA 90232

    Bhaktivedanta Book Publishing Inc. [BBP]
    9701 Venice Blvd.
    Los Andgeles, CA 90034

The BBTI people saying that money is going to the BBT is simply yet another lie concocted by Jayadvaita and Dravida and company to completely destroy everything Srila Prabhupada has given us!

For all practical purposes the BBT is now dead. It is not publishing books. The BBTI is publishing books.
The money does not go to the BBT it goes to the BBP(i) / JAS and Dravida and their team of envy for Srila Prabhupada who murdered Srila Prabhupada’s BBT.

It is dead, like it or not!

Get real people lets try to start to open our eyes!

“Krishna Consciousness Movement is for training men to be independently thoughtful and competent”
(Srila Prabhupada Letter to Karandhara – Bombay 22 December, 1972)

  15. The unpalatable “joke” is that the GBC of ISKCON will take you to court for reading Prabhupada’s books instead of theirs…..

If the Direction Of Management that Prabhupada issued had been adhered to, it would have been a beacon in these times of self appointed leaders and puppets with bribe and blackmail tactics. But instead it may have adopted the sinister managerial movement of the seven deadly corporations…..

  16. Why is it, when anything ‘good’ makes it’s way to the West in general, and the USA in particular, that it is corrupted, tarnished, commercialised? It’s like the Bible all over again, ie KJV, NKJV, NIV etc, etc. Why? WHY? Why does the west destroy the good?

    1. It is not just in the USA. This is the nature of the material world. As soon as something pure and good is established in this material world the demons attack it. While the acharya is physically present he can hold off the attacks of the demons but as soon as the acharya disappears all hell breaks loose. And that is what we see happening here. There are so many demons in big positions in ISKCON. They were kept in check, to a great extent at least, in Prabhupada’s physical presence but when Prabhupada disappeared from our material vision they went wild…

It is not just in ISKCON, it is everywhere. It is the nature of the material world and nothing can stop the ‘Putanas taking over the pulpits’, as Srila Bhaktsiddhanta so wonderfully puts it, on the departure of the empowered acharya.

The sincere followers of the Acharya have to become pure devotees and rectify the situation and the key to how this can be done is found in Srila Prabhupada’s original books. That is why the demons want to destroy Prabhupada’s books. Hence the endless book changes and the BBT’s official policy of “Every Printing It is a NEW AND DIFFERENT BOOK…”

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy!

  17. All glories to our savior Srila Prabhupada.!! As many,I eagerly awaited each new volume of SB and CC as they came off the press back in the early 70s and collected each one, unfortunately my whole book collection was stolen and now I find myself looking for replacements. I have been considering the small 30 volume set because I read they are original and true to the books left to us by Srila Prabhupada, however I just read that this set also contains changes. Can you please explain this.? Thank you for your time. Best regards…Devala

    1. Hare Krishna Devala

The small black Srimad-Bhagavatam set is from original Prabhupada Bhagavatam sets. It is exactly photographically copied and does not contain any changes.

What people say is that it is not the first edition and these fanatics claim only the first editions of Srila Prabhupada’s books are bona fide and all the other editions that were printed under Srila Prabhupada’s direct supervision and which he himself read personally daily from and gave all his classes from and begged his disciples to distribute, they claim these books loved by Srila Prabhupada are bogus.

Srila Prabhupada personally read and gave most of his Bhagavatam classes from these books.

In the small black set cantos 1-4 are not the first edition. Which means there are some corrections, many of which Prabhupada directly ordered to be made, between the first and second printing. The covers are different and some of the paintings were updated.

But this was all done with Srila Prabhupada’s approval and these are the books you see in the photos of Srila Prabhupada giving Bhagavatam class from.

So this small Bhagavatam set is Srila Prabhupada’s original pre-1977 Bhagavatam set. It is completely bona fide, completely authorized and anyone saying anything else you can understand is an envious demon who does not want people to read Prabhupada’s books. The envious demons will always be there and they will always try to bewilder the innocent devotees and lead them astray. And that is what is happening here.

It is completely bona fide and authorized, get it and read it and become a pure devotee of Krishna. Please.
